HOW TO ENTER
1. Create a free account at Circus and utilize the platform to onboard your Talent (Cast, Crew and/or Background) by setting your talent’s deal points, getting digital deal contracts executed and more!
2. Create your horror short film with your team and make it spooky!
3. Upload the finished short film by October 30th to Vimeo, Youtube or Facebook and make it public. In the video description, write "Hey Circus, we made a short horror and didn't murder any trees! #DeathToStartPacks." Send the link to firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. On October 31, we'll announce on our Circus Facebook page the grand prize winner cash prize of $750 CAD for the best film and $250 CAD cash prize for the runner up prize. We’ll post the Winner, Runner-Up and 1-2 Honourable Mentions on our site and Facebook page.

SCOOTER CORKLE, THE JURY
Scooter Corkle is a Writer and Director from Vancouver, BC. His film credits include the thriller Hollow In The Land starring Dianne Agron, Shawn Ashmore and Rachelle Lefevre; horror film Chloe and Attie (Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival) and Pour Retourner (Tribeca). Check out his IMDB. He has also directed commercials for Coast Capital Savings, The Government of Canada and the NDP.

There is no entry fee for each short film and it is free to create a Circus account.
There is no limit to the number of short films you may submit.
The story may NOT have been previously published. You must onboard your Talent (Crew, Cast and Background Actors) using the Circus platform and create your short film after October 1st, 2018. All submitted short films must be original, and all rights must be wholly owned by the Producer, particularly the film adaptation rights, if applicable.
Completed short films must be uploaded to Vimeo, Youtube or Facebook by October 30th before 11:59PM, make it public and send us the link. In the video description, write "Hey Circus, we made a short horror and didn't murder any trees! #DeathToStartPacks."
Short Films produced by teams must be submitted by one of the Producers, with consent of the other(s). All Producers must be credited on the Circus crew list.
If a short film with more than one Producer is chosen as a winner, the prize will be given to the first Producer who submits the project. Each team is responsible for dividing or sharing the prize money.
All ownership, rights and monetary exploitation to the short films submitted to this contest remains with the original rights holders.
All cash prizes will be awarded in Canadian Dollars.
**If Circus does not reach at least five (5) short film submissions, the contest will be null and void.
Circus reserves the right to change the contest rules and eligibility at any time.
Facebook is not sponsoring, endorsing, administrating, or associated with the promotion. Circus releases Facebook from any liability regarding the contest by each participant.
All Producers at least 19 years of age are eligible and must reside in Canada.
The short films must by Halloween themed or prominently have the horror genre in its story.
There are no requirements as to when the short film was written.
All short films must be between 1 and 15 minutes.
The short film submitted must not be encumbered by any obligation to, or option held by, a third party prior to entering the competition.
Short films must be submitted as a public video post on either Facebook, Youtube or Vimeo.
All material must be submitted electronically or it will not be eligible.
The winning short films must allow Circus to post the finished short films on the site and/or Circus Facebook page at no cost. Circus will choose 1-2 honourable mentions to also promote on the Circus site or Facebook page, however, they will have the right to refuse.
COPYRIGHT AND OWNERSHIP
Circus or any other partner, employee or agent associated with this contest claims no ownership to any original short film submitted to this contest. All ownership and rights to the short film submitted to this contest remains with the original rights holders.
ENTRY CONDITIONS AND RELEASE
BY ENTERING THE CONTEST YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREE TO THESE CONDITIONS. You agree to release and hold harmless Circus Technologies Inc, www.meetatcircus.com, its subsidiary, parent and affiliated companies, judges and any other organizations responsible for administering, advertising or promoting the Contest, and every one of their respective members, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) past and present from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to damages and negligence to property and persons, including but not limited to invasion of privacy, defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, copyright, infringement of trademark or other intellectual property rights relating to a participant’s Entry, participation in the Contest and/or acceptance or use or misuse of Prize; provided however, that such release will not apply to any commercial exploitation of the story by a Released Party in violation of your rights under applicable copyright law; and (c) indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorneys fees) relating to an entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or entrant’s use or misuse of Prize. Employees of Circus and their immediate families are ineligible to participate in this contest. Any such submission will be immediately disqualified. ENTRY TO THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED or restricted by any Federal or Provincial law. Recipients’ eligibility will be verified before the prize is awarded and the winner may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility. By entering the contest, you authorize us to use any trusted third-party online and cloud-based services and databases for hosting, managing and/or transmitting your short film’s data and/or documents.
